About BARR
The
Bay Area Reef Runners Dive Club
was started in 2000 by Genny Donaldson in the St. Petersburg / Clearwater, FL area.
Originally started at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium as the CMA Dive Club for staff and student interns.
We held classes and went on dive, camping and canoeing trips. As the club grew there were more people from the Bay Area looking for
an independent dive club to meet other divers. It was voted to change the name to the Bay Area Reef Runners (BARR)
Dive Club. Currently we have had over 200 divers all over the area and even as far away as Tennessee.
Genny is an active SSI Instructor for Ocean Sports in Dunedin.
Ocean Sports is a sponsor for the BARR divers and for the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.
www.oceansportsdive.com Genny started the first dive club at Essilor of America in 1992.
As this club grew, more people wanted to become divers to join. She eventually worked full
time for a local St. Petersburg dive shop and became the shop manager, instructor, and trip coordinator for 3 years.
